Industrialite

Sometimes, I feel like looking incredibly feminine. Actually, most of the time I do. Today I wanted to mix the intense femininity and the harsh backdrop of metal and lines. It creates a grunge effect that I adore. I'm wearing an H&M skirt, with a Gap vest, a J.Crew tee, and WantedShoes boots.

Qu'est-ce que c'est?

I've been pondering lately - what does it mean to be "francophone"? How does one truly evolve into Parisian style? My blog is the answer to this question, however, I would be the last person who would know a true parisian lifestyle. Pourquoi? Well, I have not even traveled to France. However, my entire life I have envisioned myself as a parisian. When I dress in the morning, I ponder if I would feel confident wearing it on the streets of Paris. If I wouldn't, I continue changing until I have achieved this look. I recently finished the book, "French Women Don't Get Fat." Which, despite the title, feels like a book explaining the french lifestyle rather than a diet book.

I intend on reading the rest of these type books by the same author.

I want this blog to show my journey in growing into a sophisticate and learning my own style. So many fashion blogs are focused on what's in now, how to wear what, and et cetera. I want to show all you lovelies my own evolution of style, and show everyone how much I adore anything French.
Thank you for sticking along for the ride, if you intend to.

Autumn.

It is October finally, and it is much needed. Although living in Florida doesn't always provide for the best weather, lately it has been spectacular. It's been in the 60's! All the girls on campus have already pulled their winter coats on, as if they're preparing for a blizzard. Florida is humorous at times. My friends and I appreciate the season for other reasons. Finally, finally, finally we get to wear the clothes that have awaited us since the year before. Not only that, but every change of seasons is an excuse for shopping. This season is filled with spectacular finds for fall. My personal favorite of looks are those that are simple and warm, but with one fabulous accent. Like so,
A top like this c'est parfait for accenting with a great boot or pencil skirt. The colors are simple yet still warm and it has an autumn glow about it. From anthropologie.

This shoe is just dazzling. It has that look of a fall piece, and subtly makes a statement (if that's possible...?) It mixes both bold design in pattern with a less bold, warm color that helps create an overall unique, spectacular shoe. It's from the Erdem Fall 2011 collection.
I've seen lots of ads in my many magazines of women in retro, almost Mad Men inspired ensembles and my heart races each and every time. These looks are so classic and chic, and are growing even more in popularity now that Banana Republic has launched its own line of "Mad Men" clothing.  This ad is from Donna Karan's Fall 2011 collection.

This jacket is pretty bold, and definitely not created for those who are iffy about fashion risks. But style and fashion are all about taking risks. I don't believe you discover your own style until you make many mistakes. This jacket would be perfect with slim-fitting jeans and stiletto boots. A hat might do as well. It might look crazy, but crazy is most certainly not boring. This jacket is from the Rizal Fall 2011 collection.
